Tom Samu
The mission of Tom Samu, is the subtitle in the name of the foundation. Why? Tom Samu (picture on the left showing him at 'Queensmarket' 2009 with his home made African ice cream) arrived as a 17 year old in the Netherlands,
from a civil war torn Sierra Leone. He arrived with the scars of this civil war, but also with a desire to mean something for the people in Sierra Leone.
He started with a project, which made it possible for friends in Grafton, Sierra Leone, to make their own living and support their families.
He helped them to start a community room & restaurant, where they could also organize music festivals. In this phase,
he met some Dutch people who wanted to support him. Together, they started the foundation.
By way of the foundation, more people could get involved in supporting this, or other future projects.
This happened, and in September 2003 a highly needed generator (picture right) could be donated to the board of the group in Grafton.
Next, he started a team of people whom he could trust to do the school meal project.
In September 2005, Tom Samu realised another dream: the production of his first CD "Show me the Way" with 13 beautifully written songs.
Songs as "Tribute" and "Crying for Peace" are about war and peace and his deep hope for positive changes.
Johan Keus from Balk (Friesland, Netherlands) made the arrangements.
